About Me

Hi there! My name is Rachel. I have published work under the names Rachel Litchman and Rachel DL. I am a disabled artist, writer, advocate and consultant working in the youth services sector. I'm also a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a BA in Gender & Women's Studies and Sociology with a certificate (minor) in Health Humanities.

My artistic work is rooted firmly in my identities as a queer, disabled survivor of child sexual abuse and my commitment to bringing awareness to silenced and stigmatized issues faced broadly by the disability community through personal narrative and research-based storytelling.

Currently, I am seeking representation as an author-illustrator for a graphic memoir about my summer hospitalization during the COVID-19 pandemic and my experiences navigating the healthcare system as a survivor of sexual violence. I’m also very interested in exploring other book-length projects related to disability.

My writing and comics have appeared in The Washington Post, STAT, Tone, The Nib, and Disability Visibility to name a few places.

Alongside my art, I work as a consultant for a variety of organizations that address youth homelessness and its intersection with a number of complex systems.

I am not doing speaking or trainings at the moment due to my health. For other requests, please contact me at rdlitchman@yahoo.com. To view other tabs in this website in the mobile view, click the menu on the top right of this page.
